Back from Barcelona! 19th of August 2008
We're back from a week-long holiday in Barcelona where the weather was beautiful, sunny and warm, every single day of our visit. Belgium seems even more gloomy in comparison! So, you'll be seeing a lot of pictures from sunny Spain over the next week or so as I get them processed and posted. There's only a little over a month until the Méridienne exhibition, so stay tuned for updates on that! I hope everyone is enjoying the summer months. Thank you, as always, for stopping by. 
Update 6th of July 2008
Many of the latest pictures posted have been taken at Abbey Villers-la-Ville, the ruins of a Cistercian abbey founded in the 12th century, and Parc Paradisio which I strongly feel to be one of the most beautiful places in all the world. Ironically, the park is also built around the ruins of a cistercian abbey, with many acres of gardens and wildlife (mostly birds) from all around the world. It is truly amazing.

Also of note, there have been more than 15,000 individual visits to this website to date! Thank you all so much for your continued support.

Some of you might have noticed that I have increased the number of Latest Uploads that appear on the front page, on whim. I am also contemplating a system of blog-esque tags to better organise the photographs that are here (and because my old categories are getting unwieldy and overly full). My name is Stefanie Montenegro, and I'm an American living in Brussels, Belgium, at the political heart of the European Union. I love taking photographs. I never cease to be amazed at the seemingly magical ability to capture a person, place, animal or object in a certain light and from a certain angle, in such a way as to reveal and share a secret message with those who care to see. There is so much astounding beauty all around us, in both the obvious locations and in the simplest of mundane items that we might otherwise overlook.

The journey continues. Every day and with every photo I learn something new. Sometimes the photographs I share are pure and unedited. Other times, I am inspired to manipulate the images or create poetic compositions. I consider my photography to be an evolving art, a means of conveying thoughts and feelings that are beyond words.
